In the summer of 1996 4 musicians (Stefano Malacarne/lead guitar, Mauro Boggioni/bass and brothers Mario/Rhythm Guitar and Alessandro Baffondi/drums) decided to form a band: they named their creature Event. The original line-up also included Michele Fragnelli as a Keyboard player.
In 1997 thanks to an AD they were contacted by their first real singer Alessandro Formenti. With this line-up, many songs were composed in a very short time; some became part of the promo "Altered State".
Alessandro had then the idea to change the old name of the band to the actual moniker "EVENT HORIZON".
The promo obtained excellent results and after the issue of this CD they were invited to play several shows. That kept Event Horizon very busy for the entire 1999, and most of the 2000, and through the live appearances, the band began to show the best of their potential.
After a new demo, "From Beginning to End", the band really needed more exposure, and in the first months of 2002 finally "Year : Zero" their first full length, was recorded.
By the time Event Horizon had totally developed their musical style and the album showed it clearly. Every instrument fitted well in the group, without unbalancing the harmony created by the different energy of each component, Alessandro flies over the instruments with his voice, creating atmospheres some times blue and other times gloomy.
On February 2004 the group acknowledged of two bad news: the singer (Alessandro) and keyboard-player (Michele) decided to dump the project. In front of the first despondency the group obtained a new dash of energy especially from the meeting with Gianluigi Girardi (vocals) who was ending his engagement and musical experiences with his last band Soul TakerS.
This change brought new ideas within the group and in fact in a few months three promo cds were being recorded with the aim to show and introduce the new singer.
The last of those three works that was entitled "Again" gave to the band the possibility to sign a deal with Cruz del Sur for the publication of two albums.
Many new concerts have been played from February of 2004 till now, the most important between these are the ones they played as a support band of Labyrinth, Dgm and Skylark. |
